Do THIS to nail down your target audience – your target audience IS here on Facebook and Instagram – but how do you find them, how do you make sure your Facebook Ad lands in their Facebook and Instagram feeds?

If you’re new to using Facebook & Instagram Ads for your coaching business, or you’ve been using them for a while but you think your targeting is off, this simple process will help you determine exactly who they are and where to find them in Ads Manager.

Getting your audience right can help to drive more traffic to your website and achieve better conversions for your paid ads, so you’ll need to spend a little time diving deep into who you want to target and where you think they will be hanging out on the platform.

Let’s get into it!

Step One

If you know your ideal customer well you may also know their interests on a personal level, what are their hobbies, where do they shop, are they interested in the latest tech..etc. Write them all down. The more you know about your ideal customer – the easier it will be to find out where they will be hanging out.

Step Two

Make a list of ALL the people your target audience may follow. Think: influencers, industry leaders and gurus.

Step Three

List all industry related publications, blogs, podcasts, magazines, websites that your target audience has an interest in.

Step Four

What are they interested in? What are they passionate about…

For example, if they are an online business, they are likely to be interested in Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Public Speaking etc. Think about them and list them all down.

Step Five

Now make a list of the brands that are related to what they do and what they have an interest in as a business or on a personal level.  If you have completed Step One – you will a good idea..  So, for example, for an entrepreneur, the may have an interest in platforms such as Kajabi, Mailchimp etc

So there you have it, 5 steps to nailing down your target audience.  Once you have completed these steps, now you can get on to the fun stuff – you’re ready to build up your audiences in your Ads Manager ready for your ads!
